ABOUT PARC
PARC's basic goals are awareness, support and research.
PARC is looking to increase awareness programs
about CRPS and provide better support programs
for patients. For the past 5 years, PARC has held seminars on CRPS.
PARC needs to further expand educational programs to include doctors
and health care professionals who need to recognize CRPS
early and refer those patients to treatment.
PARC also continues to support research into the causes of CRPS.
For the past two years, PARC has supported the essential research
of Dr Gary Bennett, PhD (Mc Gill University, Montreal), who is studying
the small capillaries in CRPS patients with a NIRES
machine. This excellent scientific work is essential to
finding better treatments and a cure.
2/5 km WALK/RUN COURSE
The paved trail begins at the LOCK 3 Museum, south
of Queenston St. in St. Catharines. The trail winds its way north,
along the west side of the canal, under the Homer Bridge to the
1 km turn around. Continuing further, past the Garden City Skyway,
there is also 2.5 km turn around. The paved trail begins and returns
to the parking lot north of the picnic area at Lock 3. There is
a playground, picnic tables, washrooms and plenty of parking.
For the first time, Helen Small, Executive Director, PARC, CRPS
patient, has a goal to complete the entire 5 km. She is excited
to be able to take part in this event being organized by Donna
Braun, family and friends. She has been
training since May. She challenges every “able-bodied”
person to complete it as well. Of course everyone is welcome!
Helen says, “Life does not end when you
have CRPS, it is just way more challenging.”
